Update: This business has ceased its operations.
Mommy Wang (王妈妈) is a Taiwanese-style restaurant opposite of Queensbay Mall. It is quite popular during weekdays lunch, where throngs of white-collar employees from nearby industrial area drop by as an alternative to Queensbay Mall dining options.
Our first dish was the Deep-Fried Pork Rib Rice (台式炸排骨饭, RM5.80). The pork fillet is reasonably well done and retained its crispy-fresh taste. It is served with rice with minced pork, cabbage, boiled egg and old cucumber soup.
Next up, we savored the Drunken Chicken Claypot Rice (醉鸡砂煲饭, RM7.50). The chicken is overwhelmed by the gravy, making it slightly more salty than desired. The claypot is served alongside a bowl of rice with black sesame seeds, mapo dofu (Szechuan bean curd) and fried egg.
Also included is a small plate of Sweet Potato With Plum (甘梅地瓜, RM4.00), which is surprisingly addictive.
For drinks, we ordered Pearl Milk Tea (珍珠奶茶, RM2.00) and Papaya Milk Shake (木瓜牛奶, RM4.50).
It was a reasonably satisfying meal at a reasonable price tag. We will be returning soon and try some other menu items.
