We religiously returned to the Kim Lian Kee (金莲记) stall as usual. An order of Hokkien Mee (福建面, RM9.90) satisfies our craving for KL's ultimate culinary masterpiece. This plate of stir-fried Hokkien Mee is prepared better than the outlet at Sunway Pyramid. The thick, dark sauce with lingering presence of "wok hei" (镬气) is nothing but serious business.
As for the Lor Mee (卤面, RM9.90) dish at Kim Lian Kee, there is copious amount of pork lard (猪油渣). Unfortunately, we do not find its taste as impressive as Hokkien Mee.
Hailing from Klang, i.e. capital of the best Bak Kut Teh under the sun, the Pin Qian Klang Bak Kut Teh (品芊正宗巴生肉骨茶) stall is our next destination. Our choice today is Half Fat Pork Bak Kut Teh (半肥瘦肉骨茶, RM17.00). The herbal soup is infused with unyielding meaty essence from pork, making this a delicacy designed solely for the heavens. This set meal includes a bowl of braised pork rice (卤肉饭) and a cup of Chinese tea.
Last from not least, we hit the Roast Duckking (烧鸭王) stall which is famous for its roast duck recipe. Today's order is a plate of Upper Quarter Duck (当日烧烤鸭上1/4, RM20.25). The glossy skin has a lovely crisp while the flesh inside is perfectly flavored to perfection. The price of this dish is rather expensive but it is admittedly worth every sen.
We were fortunate to arrive Lot 10 Hutong before 6:00pm because this is when the crowd appears. During peak hours, it is very difficult to find vacant tables especially for larger parties.
