Ah Soon Fried Oyster

Special thanks to Ah Soon Fried Oyster for extending this food review invitation.

Update: This business has ceased its operations.

Angkiki Food Court (红支支美食中心) has many hawker stalls that are worth trying out. This newly opened hawker center is open daily at 5:00pm till late night.
Once the sun has set, Angkiki Food Court is a relaxing place to enjoy Penang street food at reasonable prices. The number of stalls number around 20 and is steadily increasing. Examples of available food are roasted duck and char koay teow.
The next hawker stall under my scrunity is Ah Soon Fried Oyster (阿顺蚝煎). The proprietor has two more stalls at Northam Beach Cafe (诺登美食坊) and Red Garden (红园美食坊), but is spending most time here as this is his latest one.
As the name implies, the highlight here is Fried Oyster (蚝煎), which is available in different sizes from RM10.00 to RM30.00. Besides this, there are also Fresh Oyster (鲜蚝) and Keropok Terengganu (丁加奴鱼饼) on the menu.
As far as Fried Oyster is concerned, the amount of oyster is no laughing matter. Plump, succulent pieces of oysters release lovely juice with each gentle bite.
Not to forget the other major ingredient: eggs. The eggs are prepared to a delicate balance where the protein texture is still present, but also toasty aroma commonly known as "wok hei" (镬气). Celery on top serves as garnish and also contributes to freshness.
The proprietor and his dad (who is also here to serve tables) are a pair of joyous folks. There is one thing nice with such hawkers: You don't use enjoy the food, you also enjoy the human touch (人情味).

    1. Thanks for visiting, Grace! :-)

The main operator of this food court used to open a steamboat stall only. I asked him before, but he said he likes red colour. :-p
