Yellow Beach Cafe

This article is part of my 2016 Langkawi trip.

Cenang Beach (Pantai Cenang) is the probably the most popular beach in Langkawi - synonymous to what Batu Ferringhi is to Penang. Compared to other beaches in Langkawi, Cenang Beach is noticeably better maintained.
Yellow Beach Cafe is one of the dozens of restaurants along this valuable strip of real estate. From the main road, the restaurant is accessible through Langkapuri Inn. Yellow Beach Cafe is operated by a Caucasian by the name of Thierry. His Thai friends called him "Yellow" because they had difficulty in pronouncing his name. This is how Yellow Beach Cafe got its name.
Faced with scenic views of the sea, it would be a shame not to order a cooling glass of Fruit Milkshake (RM16.00). This slushy drink is made from banana, mango, coconut, passion fruit, strawberry and raspberry. I feel that the milkshake is artificially sweet; I prefer to enjoy the natural sweetness of fruits.
From the pizza menu, my choice for dinner is the Special Yellow's (RM38.00). This thin-crust pizza is 12 inches in diameter and is served on a wooden pizza peel.
Pizza toppings include mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni, artichokes and black olives. At the center of the pizza is an egg. Initially raw, the egg becomes partially cooked due to residual heat from the pizza. The resulting egg is still slightly runny when the pizza is served.
Tabasco sauce and chili oil are provided. These condiments help to accentuate the delectable appeal of pizza. All things considered, I feel that the pizza is not too shabby at all. However, I must admit that I have tasted better ones before.
As a tourist hotspot, the overwhelming majority of customers at Cenang Beach are tourists. It would be naive to expect reasonably priced food here. Nevertheless like other west facing beachfront properties at Cenang Beach, Yellow Beach Cafe affords excellent scenery especially during sunset.

  1. About this Yellow Beach Cafe, we have different opinion all together;-
    1. We expect that the outlet is as of beautiful and well decorated like in the pictures but it is far from REAL.
    2. Lame excuses was given - due to COVID19 and the SOP
    3. We just had drinks and side order - Not well presented
    4. Waiter/waitresses are not really customer friendly except the medium size Malay guy who served us and a caucasian man
    5. Our request to pay by Debit card was rejected out-right for reason that the outlet payment system is not in working condition.
    6. According to the Manager - A Rude White Lady not in uniform - the Maxis and CELCOM line are always problematic
    7. Her demand of getting cash from us is ridiculous - Malaysia is going for Cashless especially during this pandemic!
    8. Her rough-words and lame excuses are hard to believe because there are other tables which spend more than us are still around? Are they all also paying cash at wee hours?
    9. Or is this White Lady trying to treat us double standard because we don't consume alcohol neither liquor and spend less there?
    10. But her impoliteness and pointing fingers to Maxis and CELCOM is a foolish and stupid way out. I pity the owner of the outlet.
